For 2021 recruits a big day in recruiting just passed, June 15th. How did that go for you? Did you hear from coaches? Were you disappointed in the lack of communication from coaches? Are you excited for what is to come?

This is a totally new timing in the process for both recruits and coaches so it’s a learning process for everyone. I hope that if you were realistic with your schools then you were able to get some communication going. If so, be sure you keep the coaches up to date on your summer. Try to schedule some phone or video time to connect with them. If the coach comes out to watch you play see that as an opportunity to make a good impression, not one to fail. If you don’t play great that is ok, you can still impress them in other ways while on the course. Work towards scheduling visits for after August 1st.

If you were disappointed in the lack of responses from coaches then you may need to take a step back and re-evaluate if you are being realistic or not. It’s ok to still keep some dream schools in mind because your game may continue to improve and they may become options, but you can’t focus on too many programs that aren’t currently realistic. If nothing else it can have a huge effect on your confidence when no coaches are showing any interest. So I would recommend expanding your options to include more schools and see what happens. Continue to work hard on your game so that more schools may be options but work hard on the recruiting process as well. Email more coaches and make more phone calls.

No matter how June 15th went for you there is still a lot of work and time left in this process so keep working hard and stay optimistic.
