Many 2024 and 2025 recruits are making their decisions now or will be in the coming months, but before you begin to eliminate options that may not seem as ideal, make sure you have a definite offer to at least one school of your choice. Also, do not get confused about what may simply be a potential offer or the assumption you are at the top of the coach’s recruiting list until you know for sure.
I’ve seen this be a major issue with some recruits not understanding the difference between a potential offer at some point in the process and a definite offer actually given to you to accept. Also, some recruits may not realize that a coach is telling multiple recruits very similar things until he/she makes their decision on who they want to actually give their offer to. So make sure you know where you stand before you decline other offers.
And keep in mind that some coaches will be more specific and upfront about where you stand, while others may play their cards differently. It’s just different tactics and styles. And before you think it may seem unfair or shady to be left confused or in the dark, coaches feel the same way many times about how recruits handle their decisions and communication as well.
