In case you missed it this past week I took over the PKBGT Instagram for a Live Q and A to answer questions from players and parents. We had an awesome turnout and a LOT of questions. One question that stood out to me gave me an idea of some topics over the next few weeks. I was asked my biggest piece of advice for a 2021 recruit. While only giving one piece of advice would certainly not do anyone justice I did want to start from there and highlight a few top pieces of advice for each recruiting class.

Obviously, even within the same recruiting class, girls can be at very different stages of the process but for the next few weeks I will be addressing those girls who are still trying to find a college golf fit and try to keep it broad enough for the different stages those girls might be at in the process. I will finish out this series for players who have already signed or committed to play and my advice for those girls, so be on the lookout for that article in a few weeks.

If you are a 2019 still trying to find a college golf home or maybe towards the end of making your decision here are a few pieces of advice:

  • Don’t panic! I recently polled coaches and there are still many coaches out there looking for 2019 recruits. Some have scholarship money and some are just looking to fill a roster spot but the opportunities are still there if you make the effort!
  • Make sure you are being realistic and not wasting your time focusing on schools that aren’t going to be interested in you
  • Don’t hesitate to reach back out to coaches you contacted early on in the process to see if anything has changed
  • Keep trying to contact new coaches and see what else may be out there for you.
  • Play tournaments so that you can be seen!
  • Do not go into an opportunity with the mindset to transfer, but if you really want to play college golf, don’t be afraid to give a place that may not seem like a good fit a chance as opposed to not playing altogether. If you don’t like it then you can always transfer or just go somewhere to be a regular student.
