First, we are going to assume the NCAA rules allow the coach to respond (current 2024 and 2025 recruits). Once that is established there are several reasons why you may not get responses with the most common usually being that you aren’t being realistic with the strength of the golf program. But here are a few reasons why the coach may not be responding to your attempts to contact them: 1. The golf program isn’t realistic for your resume 2. Your academics aren’t strong enough for the school 3. It was a poorly written intro email 4. Your resume doesn’t have all the necessary info 5. They are done with your recruiting class 6. For all of you 2025 recruits who have been waiting, now is your time! Starting June 15th, college coaches can now communicate with you via email, text, phone, and video chats. Hopefully, you have already taken the initiative to reach out to them over the last few months. While the communication begins on their end, the expectation for you to initiate communication has been there for months now. Keep in mind though that not everyone is going to hear from coaches on this date. For some top-ranked recruits who are being recruited by the top-ranked golf programs, it's a bit more of a sprint, for all of the others it's more of a marathon that is likely to continue throughout junior year and into senior year. "Confidence is the knowledge that I can give my best effort regardless of circumstances" - Ben Bergeron After hearing this definition of confidence on a podcast I listen to it got me thinking about the real meaning of confidence. But what catches my attention in this quote is the use of the word "knowledge". Typically the words faith and belief are used when defining confidence but I believe the use of the word knowledge is what defines true confidence. According to the Merriam-Webster definition of knowledge, it is "the fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience". As opposed to the definition of belief, "something that is accepted or considered to be true or honest" and the definition of faith, "something that is believed especially with strong conviction".  Having faith and belief in yourself are almost these vague words to give you the [...]

If you want to have dream schools on your list that is completely ok, I love to see a female golfer willing to work hard to play at the highest level possible. But if scholarship money is a top priority, then you need to focus most of your time and energy on the realistic schools where you are #1 or #2 on their list. If you only focus on your dream schools where you are on the coach's “interested” list then you will find yourself missing opportunities at great schools and programs where you may receive offers earlier. Scholarship money is not as abundant as many are led to believe so be sure you give yourself the opportunity to earn scholarship money by being realistic with the schools you focus on. What are 3 things you would have done differently as a junior golfer? “When I was a little girl I always dreamed about playing collegiate and professional golf one day. Now that I am fulfilling part of my dream as a collegiate golfer, looking back there are a few things I would have done differently as a junior. The biggest thing I would have done differently is to change my practice routine to involve more of the things that I really struggled with. COVID-19 NCAA Contact Rules Update #2: DI programs will remain in a Dead Period through July 31st. This means no on-campus contact (official or unofficial visits), off-campus contact, or evaluations (recruiting at tournaments). Electronic communication (emails, texts, social media, calls, video chats) only for 2020 and 2021 recruits. Beginning June 15th for 2022 recruits as well. DII programs will implement a Quiet Period from June 1-30 which means you can have on-campus in-person contact with a coach (official or unofficial visit) but no off-campus in-person contact or evaluations (recruiting at tourneys). Electronic communication will continue as well. They can host camps or clinics during this time. This is for DII programs only.
