After you have familiarized yourself with the NCAA rules, built your resume and researching schools, now it's time to contact coaches. The topic of contacting schools is a question that I get asked numerous times throughout recruiting seminars and individual consultations. As with many parts of the process, this tends to be very specific to where the individual recruit is at in her own recruiting process. RecruitPKB: Research 75+ Realistic Schools

After you have created your college golf resume, it's time to find out what schools you realistically match with. Use the Women’s College Breakdown to identify schools that fit you athletically.  Once you have determined where you fit in athletically use www.golfstat.com to find golf programs that fit your athletic abilities and resume. At Golfstat you will find all of the D1, D2, D3 and NAIA programs ranked within their division to help you get started. Finding a realistic golf program is only part of the process. You must then do the research to find out which ones fit you academically, geographically, socially and financially.  You can use the Ping College Golf Guide, www.collegegolf.com to research the golf programs and contact the coaches. RecruitPKB: NCAA Rules and Regulations

Knowing the NCAA rules and regulations will not only help you navigate the process better but it will also show a coach that you are serious and prepared. Keep in mind, a student-athlete can always make phone calls and send emails to coaches. A student-athlete can tour the campus at any point but coaches or athletic staff aren't allowed to meet with prospective student-athletes until the designated time. A very important step to remember is to email coaches with your upcoming schedule. Now that we are in full-time spring golf and the summer months are just around the corner it is a great time to do this. Coaches have no way of knowing where you will be playing unless you tell them. So, if you want them to come out and watch you play, make sure you let them know where you are going to be. Don't wait until the end of summer to send them your results, make the opportunity available for them to come out and watch you play.
