RecruitPKB: Starting the Process – Get an Evaluation

Last week I hosted a webinar about starting the college recruiting process. While these weren’t specific steps I included in that webinar, I wanted to talk about the importance of getting started off on the right foot with direction and guidance specific to you, your goals, and your expectations.

Through the RecruitPKB Platform, there are 3 ways you can do that so I wanted to go over those ways and why they are so important for the success of the process. Then over the next few weeks, I’ll be tackling each of the main steps of the recruiting process that I feel are important for a recruit to follow.

What is an Evaluation or Consultation and why is it so important?

Yes, these are both free and paid services we provide through the RecruitPKB Platform as part of our partnership, but I include this as part of starting the process bc it is so helpful in navigating the process more effectively and efficiently. So whether it’s myself or one of the other expert college golf consultants, I just recommend you at least start there if at all possible!

This process is not a one-size-fits-all type of process. There is not one exact blueprint that all recruits should follow. Yes, there are some basic steps and rules that apply to everyone, but understanding this process more specific to your timeline, abilities, goals, expectations, and parameters will increase your chances of finding the best fit for you.

Also, having someone who is non-biased or not emotionally connected to you will give you a much better perspective on the process.

We all have big hopes and dreams for our futures, and parents are going to be their kid’s biggest cheerleaders, so, many times that can get lost in the mix of what is realistic and more suitable for the student-athlete.

Connecting the dots between your physical game, mental toughness, maturity, work ethic, coachability, academics, social expectations, and the realistic timelines of the recruiting process can be daunting.

Even if you feel comfortable navigating the process on your own I highly recommend having a qualified, non-biased, 3rd party expert who has seen numerous kids navigate this process and go on to the collegiate level to go over things specific to you and your expectations. Even if it’s just a few suggestions, recommendations, or added steps to what you’re already doing, in this competitive world of college recruiting, it can make a huge difference!
